Security: Is EziMUG Safe?

Is EziMUG safe to use with my TORN API key?

EziMUG only requires a TORN Public API Key. This key is stored exclusively within the user's browser and is never saved on our database. So we can say "YES"

How is my API key secured?

Your API key is secured using a **Client-Side Only** architecture for all TORN data fetching.

When you click "View" the request to api.torn.com is made directly from **your web browser** (your client IP address) to the TORN servers. The server that hosts this page does not act as a middleman for this critical data.

Your key is stored locally in your browser's cookies/session storage for convenience.

What data does the server store?

The PHP server only acts as a secure database insertion point. It stores the minimal, generally public information required for tracking:

  • Company ID
  • Company Name
  • Company Type
  • Current Rating ( Stars )

The server **never** receives or stores the sensitive information fetched by your API key (like employee last actions, stats, or battle logs).

How To Use EziMUG

Step 1: Save Your API Key

Enter your TORN API key (Public access is required) in the input field and click "Save API Key". The tool will immediately validate the key against the TORN API and save it to your browser's cookies.

Step 2: View Members and Find Targets

Click the **"View"** button next to any tracked company. The tool will:

  • Fetch the full employee list and their last action data using your API key.
  • Automatically update the company's rating and name in the database if the API reports newer data.
  • Display the employee list in a pop-up window, sorted by least recent activity (mugging targets first).
  • The filter on the main page applies to the employee activity shown in the modal.

Remember: TORN API requests are limited to 100 per minute per key. Please use the "View" button judiciously to avoid hitting your rate limit.

Disclaimer of Liability

EziMUG is a third-party fan tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Torn City or its developers (Chedburn/Chains). The tool is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. You, the user, assume all risk for using this tool.

API Key Usage and Responsibility

The user is solely responsible for their TORN API key and all data fetched using it. While EziMUG is designed to perform API calls client-side (browser-to-TORN) for maximum security, the security of your key relies on the integrity of your local browser and device.

By using this tool, you acknowledge that using a "Public" API key exposes certain public statistics. We recommend only using an API key with the minimum required access.

Data Accuracy and Game Rules

EziMUG relies on data provided by the TORN API. We cannot guarantee the absolute accuracy or timeliness of this data. Furthermore, you must ensure your use of this tool complies with all official TORN rules (TOS) regarding API usage and fair play. This tool is intended only to organize public company data in a convenient format.
